Techniques centuries old but set in a modern context… succeeded in achieving a contemporary, pleasing ambience for an Italian fine-dining restaurant that is visually exciting but still allows an emphasis on the cuisine and food preparation.
Elements that are often associated with grand Italian spaces, such as frescoes, mosaic walls and blown glass chandeliers, were used throughout, but contemporized and even abstracted.
Using custom architectural elements designed to enliven the space and a color palette that brightened the surrounding walls, the atmosphere is fresh and inviting. A sparkling palette of finishes, materials and fabrics were selected to ensure that the food and its preparation were the focus during the dining experience.
Custom mosaic art walls were commissioned for the bar and pizza counter and columns and walls were draped in fabric and dramatically lit, creating a theatrical experience. Walls were fitted with mirrors and custom iron screens to create intrigue as well as enlarge the space. Lime-washed timber beams cast light upwards to increase the height of the space.
